Public Notice | Hydrant Flushing 2026

The Town of Torbay will begin its annual hydrant flushing program on May 25, 2026, continuing into the month of July. Flushing will be completed daily, Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and a live map of completed hydrants can be found at https://www.arcgis.com/apps/dashboards/a51770f5483a4b778d0971a275dbe616.

This important maintenance helps improve water quality, extend pipe life, and ensure hydrants work in emergencies.

What to Expect:

• Temporary low water pressure
• Discoloured water
• Occasional brief service interruptions

It is recommended to avoid doing laundry or using hot water during flushing, as discoloured water may stain clothing or enter your hot water tank.

If your water is discoloured, run your outdoor tap or bathtub until it clears. After flushing, consider draining your hot water tank to remove sediment and help it last longer.
