Trails
The Town of Torbay has some of the best hiking and trail networks in the Avalon Region. The Town is home to portions of the iconic East Coast Trails and municipal trails for all to enjoy!
Father Troy’s Trail
A scenic coastal section of the East Coast Trail connecting Torbay and Flatrock, with dramatic cliff views, beaches, historic sites, and outstanding views of Conception Bay.
Length: 8.9 km
Estimated Time: 2–4 hours
Difficulty: Easy
Access: Torbay - Park at the end of Spray Lane.
Community Walk Getting to Silver Mine Head Path: After exiting the trail from the Torbay trailhead, walk 150 m, up Spray Lane, turn left for 330 m along Marine Drive, then bear left onto Motion Lane for 300 m, then right onto Motion Drive for 500 m, to the Silver Mine Head Path trailhead (total: 1.3 km).
Silver Mine Head Path
A scenic coastal trail from Torbay to Outer Cove, featuring gentle coastal cliffs, wild wave action, coastal meadows, mixed forest, and views toward Torbay Point and Flatrock. The path also passes Middle Cove Beach, known for caplin and whales in season.
Length: 3.8 km
Estimated Time: 2 hours
Difficulty: Easy
Access: Torbay – Park alongside Motion Drive near the postal boxes. Do not block the fire hydrant. Start by the white rock.
Community Walk Getting to Cobbler Path: After exiting the trail at the Outer Cove trailhead, proceed 400 m to the bridge spanning Outer Cove. Walk 200 m to Dorans Lane, then continue 1.1 km to the end of the lane and the Cobbler Path trailhead (total: 1.8 km).
Island Pond Brook Trail
A short scenic nature trail beginning at Torbay Battery, a historic site associated with 18th-century French invasions and fortifications. From the beach, the trail climbs past rushing waterfalls, grassy hummocks, and rocky outcrops along Island Pond Brook.
Length: 0.47 km
Estimated Time: 10 minutes (stroll) / 5 minutes (brisk walk)

Upper Three Corner Pond Park Trail Network
This trail network is approximately 0.77km in length and has multiple entry points around Upper Three Corner Pond Park.
Western Island Pond Trail Network
This trail network is approximately 1.35km in length and is accessible on Western Island Pond Drive and Skippers Lane.
This trail network is approximately 1.35km in length and is accessible on Western Island Pond Drive, Forest River Road, Barkwood Lane, and Rattling Brook Road.
Newly developed, this trail network is accessible from Whiteway Pond Road.
