Municipal Awareness Week | May 10 - 15, 2026
The Town of Torbay is privileged to celebrate Municipal Awareness Week 2026 from May 10 - 15. The Town of Torbay will be carrying out a couple of celebrations as part of Municipal Awareness Week this year:
Open House - May 13, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
The Town of Torbay invites residents of all ages over to Town Hall for a Municipal Awareness Week Open House! Council and staff will be on site to chat with residents about their respective roles and responsibilities with the Town. The Town will have its municipal fleet on site for residents to look at and the Torbay Volunteer Fire Department will also be on site with its emergency vehicles on display weather permitting. There will be some snacks and refreshments on site in addition to a hamburger and hot dog barbecue!
We hope to see you there!
Mayor for a Day Contest
Students in Holy Trinity Elementary and Juniper Ridge Intermediate are asked to submit a short essay response to the following question: “Imagine Torbay in 10 years. What does it look like to you and what would you do as mayor for the future Torbay?”
A winner from two divisions (Elementary and Junior High) will be selected. Winners will receive a $50 gift card and Town of Torbay swag, both of which will be presented in a private ceremony at Town Hall with the mayor and any family members who wish to attend. Additionally, the winners will be offered the opportunity to be honorary cake cutters with Mayor Craig Scott at our Canada Day celebrations!
The deadline for submissions is Friday, May 15, 2026. Submissions can be dropped off to the Torbay Town Hall or to your classroom teacher if your class is participating and our staff will collect submissions following the deadline. Electronic submissions can also be emailed to yfedonenko@torbay.ca.
