Hydrant Flushing Update

The Town of Torbay would like to provide an update and progress reminder regarding our ongoing annual hydrant flushing program. Please find the planned progression for the remainder of this week, alongside an important notice regarding next week's schedule.

Remaining Schedule for This Week (June 3–5)

Operations will take place daily between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Crews plan to complete flushing in the following target areas:

• Torbay Road (from Town Hall to Lower Street, including the Flemings Hill Area)
• Bridge Road area and intersecting streets

Notice: Temporary Suspension Next Week (June 8–12)

Please be advised that hydrant flushing operations will be halted next week (Monday, June 8 to Friday, June 12) to allow for mandatory staff training. Operations will resume as normal on Monday, June 15th.

What to Expect & Precautions

During flushing operations, residents in the affected areas may experience temporary low water pressure, discolored water, or brief service interruptions.

• Household Advice: It is highly recommended to avoid doing laundry or using hot water during flushing hours (9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.), as discolored water can stain clothing and pull sediment into your hot water tank.
• Clearing Discolored Water: If your water appears discolored, please run an outdoor tap or your bathtub cold-water faucet until it runs completely clear.
• System Longevity: After flushing is completed in your immediate area, you may want to consider draining your hot water tank to remove built-up sediment and help extend its lifespan.
