Due to ongoing dry weather conditions and increased water consumption, water levels at North Pond continue to decline. As a result, the Town of Torbay is implementing a Water Usage Ban effective immediately.
Residents are required to limit water use and refrain from the following activities until further notice:
- Washing vehicles
- Watering lawns or gardens
- Filling swimming pools
- Any other non-essential water use
Recommended Water Conservation Practices
To help preserve the Town’s water supply for essential needs, residents are strongly encouraged to:
- Take short showers instead of baths
- Turn off the tap while brushing teeth or shaving
- Delay doing laundry or running dishwashers
- Hand wash dishes using minimal water
- Use rain barrels to collect water for non-potable purposes
These measures are crucial to restore and maintain adequate water supply for essential services and residential use.
Hydrant flushing by the Infrastructure and Public Works Water & Sewer Division is suspended.
The splash pad at Torbay Common is closed until further notice.
The Torbay Volunteer Fire Department has suspended all water training exercises using the municipal water supply.
Municipal Enforcement Officers will be actively monitoring compliance with the ban. Violators may be subject to penalties.
We appreciate your cooperation and support in protecting our community’s vital water resources. Updates will be provided as conditions change.
Let’s work together to conserve water and safeguard our Town!
