Public Notice | Reminder of 2026 Property Tax Invoices

The Town of Torbay would like to send a friendly reminder to residents and business owners that the property and business tax for 2026 are due and payable by March 31, 2026.

Guaranteed Income Supplement

Residents currently in receipt of the Guaranteed Income Supplement may be eligible for a 25% discount applicable to the primary place of residence only. A Town application and GIS entitlement letter must be provided to the town each taxation year. Deadline for submission of completed applications is June 30, 2026.

Low Income Property Tax Reduction

Residents may be eligible for a 20% Property Tax Reduction for their primary place of residence only. Single income must be less than $22,440.00, or family annual income less than $53,808.00 to qualify for this reduction.  A Town application must be completed each taxation year, and a 2025 Notice of Assessment from Canada Revenue Agency must accompany the completed 2026 application.  Deadline for submission of completed applications is June 30, 2026.

Interest of 1.25% will be charged monthly on all tax balances starting April 1, 2026. Interest will continue to accrue each month until the balance is paid in full, unless an approved payment arrangement is in place.
