Planned Water Service Disruption | Tuesday, April 14, 2026
The Town of Torbay advises residents in the areas of Reddy Drive, North Pond Road, Convent Lane, Flemings Hill, and all connecting streets that a planned water shutoff is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, 2026. This disruption is necessary to complete essential repairs and infrastructure upgrades at the Tynedale Drive Pumping Station, ensuring the continued reliability of the system.
Work is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and is expected to be finished by 4:00 p.m. the same day. During this window, residents should prepare for a total loss of water pressure. We recommend filling bathtubs and clean containers prior to the start time to assist with essential needs and toilet flushing. To protect your home’s plumbing and appliances, please refrain from running dishwashers or washing machines and consider turning off the power to electric hot water tanks to prevent damage to the heating elements.
Once the upgrades are complete and the system is recharged, you may notice some initial discolouration or air in your lines. To resolve this, simply run a cold-water bathtub faucet until the water flows clear. We suggest avoiding the use of hot water taps until the cold water has cleared to prevent sediment from being drawn into your water heater.
The Town will provide a formal update as soon as service is fully restored. We understand that water disruptions are a significant inconvenience, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation as we perform these critical system improvements. If you have any questions or concerns reach out to our Supervisor of Infrastructure and Public Works at (709) 437 - 6532 ext. 286.
