Summer Bulk Program 2016

Green Zone: Waste Transfer Site

Our bulk garbage program will run for two (2) weekends in the spring and again for two (2) weekends in the fall. As with previous years residents can drop off large metals, organics, recyclables and bulk garbage.

Residents with limited resources will be able to call in for an appointment to have bulk garbage picked up. The service will run on the last Thursday of each of the following months: June, July, August and September.

Spring Weekends: May 28-29 and June 4-5.

Opening Hours: 8:00AM to 7:00PM on May 28-29 and June 4-5.

Fall Weekends: September 24-25 and October 1-2

Hydrant Maintenance and Flushing Program

As in previous years the town will conduct a flushing program of the town’s potable water system. This maintenance is essential and will help maintain quality water for the residents of the town system.

Hydrant Flushing:

Spring: May 24 – June 10

Fall: September 6 – 16

Just wondering the hours that the clean up week is operating. I see that it is May 28 and 29 but I can’t seem to find the hours of operation daily

Where is the drop-off site located?

    1. Ross @ Torbay

Hi Diana, the site is directly behind Town Hall. A one way system will be in operation, enter the drop off area through Holy Trinity Lane and you’ll exit through the Municipal Depot on to Torbay Road.

Will used motor oil be accepted at this time ?

    1. Ross @ Torbay

Hi Paul, thanks for the question. used motor oil isn’t accepted during the spring or fall bulk garbage drop offs. However, the Town will be scheduling a hazardous waste drop off later in the summer. The motor oil would be accepted at that. Details will be posted on our website when scheduled.

How is the best way to dispose of a utility trailer???? Can’t tow it anymore!!!

    1. Ross @ Torbay

      Hi Dinah,

Thanks for the question. It might be worth contacting a scrap metal recycling company, they may have some advice on it. NewCo Metals & Auto Recycling are in the east end of St. John’s.

I would love to see more information on the website about programs the town offers.

For example: Without reading the comments about the bulk garbage program – I wouldn’t have all the information I needed.

    The following is missing:
    • Location of the drop off site (there are new residents moving into the town all the time)
    • Hours of operation for the drop off site
    • How to arrange a pick up appointment
    • A list of items that are accepted/not accepted

    1. Ross @ Torbay

      Hi Sabrina,

All the details you need are on the Torbay Cleanup page in our news section. Check it out here –
