Press Release – Town of Torbay Funding Announcement
The Town of Torbay is pleased to advise residents that a funding announcement today will bring significant investments from the Government of Canada and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to our community. Nick Whalen, Member of Parliament, St. John’s East and Bernard Davis, MHA, Virginia Waters – Pleasantville will be present with Mayor Ralph Tapper to make this announcement.
The investments involve:
- $18,700 from the Canada 150 Celebration and Commemoration Program administered by Canadian Heritage. These funds will go towards a series of Canada 150 Celebratory events in Torbay in 2017.
- $150,000 from the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program administered by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency. These funds will go towards the development of a new Splashpad for our community.
- $447,316 from the Innovative Communities Fund again administered by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and finally $150,000 from the Regional Development Fund administered by the Provincial Government’s Department of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development. These combined funds will go towards the development of three tourism/heritage/interpretation sites near the Town of Torbay’s beach.
